Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, we have seen profound shifts in human behaviour and interests, largely driven by the relentless rise of consumerism and materialism. The insatiable desire for the latest gadgets, cars, or fashion items has brought about a palpable transformation in our society. Evidence points to a surge in stress, unhelpful social anxiety, and depression as individuals find themselves tethered to the notion that contentment can be achieved through the acquisition of more possessions. It's become evident that people are overwhelmingly happier with less, as the pursuit of material wealth often results in diminishing returns in terms of well-being.

Another concerning trend is the deteriorating interpersonal skills and self confidence of young people and co-workers. This has been linked to the increase use of devices and we all know the Covid lockdowns didn’t help! This trend coupled with the constant pressures of life to succeed at school or business can cause fatigue and or depression resulting in an increase fear of failure. This trend was accelerated during the 2020 Covid lockdowns.

Recognising this, Destination Dreaming responded with an innovative program aimed at fostering self-regulating well-being tools and improving overall physical and mental health called Learning from Losing - Its about winning at life!

'Learning from Losing', which equips individuals with seven practical tools to navigate the pitfalls of consumerism-driven discontent is delivered in-house at schools or your workplace. It offers a range of views of approaching the concept of failure and helps to define your version of success. A key tool, the Bias Thought Filter is a standout, helping individuals foresee the potential outcomes of various scenarios based on their bias thought filter. By acknowledging the perils of unchecked materialism and offering constructive solutions, this program marks a significant step towards achieving a more balanced and contented society in the 21st century.
